Space in Bar

The dock bar on your Mac is quickly cluttered with many app icons. If you have the same, adding a space between the icons can help to understand some things.

The “spaces” that this command adds are invisible fragments that can be easily removed if necessary by dragging them from the dock bar.

To add an empty fragment, open Terminal and enter the following command:

defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '{"tile-type" = "spacer-tile";}'; killall dock

Once the command is completed, the dock bar will instantly disappear and reboot with invisible tiles to create space

How to remove duplicates in the menu

Many OS X users regularly experience the problem of duplicating menu bars in the “open with program” (open with) item. The following command will help solve the problem:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

This command re-indexes the application database. Then restart Finder:

killall Finder

AppleScript

Option two, compile and save yes to disk for further use in dmg OS X format:

do shell script "/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user" do shell script "killall Finder"
